Tonight is our 29th wedding anniversary. My wife asked me to bring her here again after having come two years ago. Michael, Candace and Jenn took great care of us With the same elegant, unpretentious but attentive service as before our meal was quiet and intimate despite two large parties present at the same time. We ordered the 3 course Pre Fixe menu (again). It was every bit as delicious as before. They have a knack for cooking everything to just the right finish and everything comes hot and fresh! The bread is perfection and just the right chewiness for a French accompaniment. The mushroom soup was perfect and not at all salty like most restaurants, but full of savory flavor. We both enjoyed the salmon which was fresh and buttery and perfectly served. For dessert we hat a Carmel cream and a chocolate mousse neither of which was overly sweet, a plus! But generous in portion.
All around a great and unpretentious gourmet class meal. We will be back! -

Some of the food is delicious and some of the staff is very nice, but DO NOT come here if you have any food allergies whatsoever.
Not only will they not serve you, but a horrible man will come over and try and shame you for asking for another sauce that you are not allergic to (one that was already on the menu). This is discrimination, appalling and it's lacking plain common decency. Such a shame for one person to ruin the whole thing for everyone.
A frequent customer and avid supporter just became a boycotter. This man should not be allowed to work anywhere near (or with) people. -

This is a very enjoyable little venue. Very nice ambiance. Service is perfectly attentive. The house made pate is delish and served on a plate with perfect garnishes. The dead snails are prepared wonderfully along with nicely cooked mushroom pieces in an, I guess, olive oil and butter and parsley sauce.
We shared the lamb chops entree. Two chops each. Broiled perfectly medium rare but we would have enjoyed a little more flavor. The dish is accompanied by a lovely vegetable roll. Very unique and very tasty. Green beans, julienned carrots etc. wrapped in I guess a romaine lettuce leaf.
We will look forward to visiting again on trips to Austin. -

Kind of sad that this review is being written, but... I was really excited to eat here and didn't get the chance because of our interaction before even sitting down.
They don't like scooters. I can't believe I'm even writing about scooters, but it's true. After living in Austin my entire life, I've never been to Chez Nous... and the other night it was my birthday... and I was super excited to eat here for the first time.
We scooted over from our condo, and parked our scooters near the parking meter that is directly in front of the Chez Nous entrance. As we were walking in to the restaurant, either the owner/chef/host pushed past us grabbed one of our scooters and scolded us for parking our scooters in front of their door. He then placed the scooter at a location he felt was appropriate and told us that is where we should have parked the scooter...
Okay, awkward.
Anyway, once inside the restaurant (seconds later), the same person tells us (party of two) that we can only sit at two tables in the restaurant (one is right next to the front door, and the other is directly next to the bathroom). That may be the only seating options for a party of two. That's fine, but after the whole scooter interaction we felt unwelcome and left.
Maybe I will eat at Chez Nous in the future, but some time needs to pass to recover from the ridiculous customer service. -

Solid meal. I was happy we were able to secure a reservation for a decent sized group a few days before on a weekend! Thoughts on the food we ordered (which I def thought was better than the bites I tried from my friends):
-Escargot: delicious and must order! Even if you've never tried or thought they're weird/gross.. this is the place to try them!
-Foie de canard: large portion, very rich, would not order again unless you're starving. They don't give anything with it so I guess you're supposed to use the shared bread pieces at the table, which will def fill you up!
-Rib eye steak: delicious
-Scallops: delicious
-Chocolate mousse: very light and airy, not much chocolate flavor
